Moto Z Play from Motorola

It only needs one brand to come up with an innovative technology for others to hop on to the bandwagon. The American handset maker, Motorola happens to be the second brand to launch a device with removable modular accessories after LG G5. However, Motorola has gone a step ahead with Moto Z as all that user needs to do is snap on the mods without taking off anything, which is highly convenient. Recently, two new smartphones have surfaced on the Internet viz. Moto Z Force and Moto Z Play. Of these two, Moto Z Force is essentially Moto Z with a bigger battery, Moto Z Play on the other hand is the affordable variant of Moto Z. Here is all that is known about the upcoming handset so far.

Moto Design:

Several leaked images of the upcoming handset have cropped up on the Internet and show a very identical device to Moto Z. It was being speculated that the Moto Z Play would not be featuring Moto Mod 16 Pin connectivity, however, the leaked images tell a different story. It can be clearly seen in these images that the handset will come sporting a metal chassis, with 16 Pin magnetic connectors on the rear glass panel. The front panel of the device is very identical to newly launched Moto G4 Plus with a square home button below the display, which also incorporates a fingerprint scanner. Also, the device will feature the same circular camera module bump on the back as seen on the Moto Z.

This particular handset has been regularly doing the rounds of benchmarking websites as well as Zauba, which means that most of its specifications are out in the open. It is supposedly flaunting an AMOLED 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The processor is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 652 processor to be paired with Adreno 506 GPU. However, the clock speed of the handset is not known yet. Motorola is expected to launch the handset in two variant, 16 GB with 2 GB RAM and 32 GB with 3 GB RAM. Also, the device is expected to be powered by a 3500 mAh battery.

Moto Mods:

Moto Mods happen to be the highlight of the new Moto Z series to be launched this year and it looks quite promising. All that the user has to do is to snap on the mod using the magnetic pins on the rear panel, which Motorola claims to be powerful enough so that mod does not remove easily. Motorola has already unveiled a number of Moto Mods including Incipico offGRID Power Pack, InstaShare projector and JBL Soundboost. Motorola has also assured that there will be many more mods in the future that would totally increase the scope of what all can be done with the new Moto Z Play.

Moto Style Shell:

Motorola has been offering swappable rear panels since the very first Moto G, which allowed users to customise looks of the handset to their liking. However, it involved removing the stock panel and replacing it with the new one. The 16 pin magnetic connectors on the rear panel of Moto Z Play has made it even more convenient to change the look of your handset. All you need to do is to get your hands on Moto Style Shell and snap it on the rear panel using the connectors, that easy.

That is all the information available regarding the upcoming handset as of now and should be taken with a pinch of salt at the moment. It is to be expected that the handset would be launched in India at the end of October, following the launch of Moto Z. Motorola Moto Z  price would play a crucial role. Segmenting the phone in a right price bracket is important. We can expect its price to be around INR 35000.
