Windows 10 upgrade prompt changed due to user’s feedback & complaints

Windows 10 upgrade Prompt changes following the complaints & feedback from Insider Hub

Windows-10-Upgrade

Microsoft’s insistence on Windows 10 upgrades have backfired as many people started complaining about forced updates & then the subsequent loss of data. There were reports of people who accidentally left their computers on at night only to discover the next morning that their computer has upgraded itself to Windows 10 overnight.

Recently, a woman dragged the company to court demanding $10,000 due to data loss & sluggishness of her laptop, following the forced upgrade to Windows 10. Microsoft did lose the case & didn’t go for appeal against the judgement though.

I guess all these issues must have influenced MS’s decision to change the way upgrade to Windows 10 are done.

Some of them found out that the close ‘X’ button of Windows 10 upgrade notification didn’t mean as No. Instead it was actually a sort of ‘I agree’ button. And with this way, Microsoft obtained permission from users unknowingly.

The repeated changes to Windows 10’s upgrade policy, mandatory telemetry collection, and decisions to kill off patch notes and make all updates mandatory has left users angry.

The newer upgrade prompt will feature ‘Upgrade now’, ‘Schedule time’ & ‘Decline upgrade to Windows 10’ & continue using Windows 7, 8,or 8.1.

Microsoft’s  Terry Myerson had replied to The Verge that:

“Since we introduced a new upgrade experience for Windows 10, we’ve received feedback that some of our valued customers found it confusing, we’ve been working hard to incorporate their feedback and this week, we’ll roll out a new upgrade experience with clear options to upgrade now, schedule a time, or decline the free offer”

The free upgrade for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 users will close on July 29th. If you’re looking for upgrade, make it soon.
